FTTH Over the Next Decade
Since the last half a decade, ‘no internet’ is the new apocalypse. In the previous week(04/10/2021), the world saw an outage of all three major social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram) as well as even Whatsapp for not one, not two, but for eight hours worldwide.
However, the problem was solved within hours, it did manifest how we become ‘restless’ without these platforms to connect. As we are talking about connectivity, the way we are moving towards fiber-based networks, it seems, the upcoming years will be notable in the history of wired internet connectivity.
Although, India and many other countries are still under process to go fully FTTH connected. Here, Jio fiber is already providing FTTH connections area-wise. Other leading telecoms are also likely to follow the lead regarding this.
Specifically, in the mentioned Asian country, Adopt Nettech, the thriving connectivity provider firm, is heftily and quite noticeably manifests a positive approach towards FTTH Technology. The firm contributes towards the rapid adaption of the Fiber-based connectivity all across the nation.
Meanwhile, the European region is already setting a benchmark by possessing a very large number of FTTH/ FTTB connections. The FTTH Council Europe predicts that by the year 2026, Europe may have more than 197 million FTTH subscribers. Also, the region has 99 million FTTH users.
However, getting the whole world connected through fiber won’t be a cakewalk. The tech space must expect some hurdles in the way as not every nation is equally equipped in the context of technology.
Challenges in the Path of FTTH
● Lack of skilled and specialized labor
There is a vast difference between fiber optics and normal wire when it comes to the structure and network of fiber optics and normal wire.
To manufacture and deploy an efficient network, a tech firm would require the correct set of talent. As the technology is relatively new, it can be a daunting job to find the right people for the same.
Challenges that Can Affect its Performance
● Possible damage to the wires-causing effects on performance including banding
● Scratches in the Fiber Optic
● Pulling/Stretching
Despite such hindrance in its way to cover the largest area with uninterrupted connectivity, FTTH is moving and growing at a quite rapid pace. One can expect the technology to thrive in most of the developed countries till 2026. However, the regions which lack enough resources and awareness for the same technology can anticipate to fully utilize FTTH till 2030.
